Samuel (Sam) Gindville was born and raised in Columbus, Georgia. He currently lives in the Tampa area with his wife (Melissa), son (John), two dogs (Curly and Carl), and cat (Sir Charles). Sam completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science at Auburn University in 2005, and went on to graduate from St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine with his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2011 and completed his clinical training at Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, he went on to practice and eventually manage a small animal clinic in the Nashville area for 4 years. Since 2015 Dr. Gindville has been working in industry, and is currently a Professional Services Veterinarian with Dechra Veterinary Products.

Pedro Dominguez, DVM, Board Certified in Medical Oncology, Board Certified in Radiation Oncology 

Dr. Dominguez obtained his veterinary degree from the University of Wisconsin, School of Veterinary  Medicine in 2000. After three years in private practice in Puerto Rico, Dr. Dominguez pursued additional  specialized training, completing a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at VCA West  LA, followed by residencies in Medical and Radiation Oncology at Michigan State University. Dr.  Dominguez joined Animal Cancer Care Clinic in 2009 and currently serves as Director of Radiation  Therapy.

Ricardo Fernandez, DVM, Practice Limited to Oncology 

Dr. Fernandez was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He obtained his undergraduate degree in  Coastal Marine Biology from the University of Puerto Rico and veterinary degree from Louisiana State University in 2013. After graduation, he continued his training with a small animal rotating internship at VCA  Veterinary Care Animal Hospital and Referral Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico and an Oncology  Internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in San Diego, California. He then moved to Madison,  Wisconsin where he completed a one-year Clinical Trials Fellowship followed by a three-year residency in  Medical Oncology at the University of Wisconsin. In 2019, Dr. Fernandez joined Animal Cancer Care Clinic as a staff medical oncologist.

Dr. Chauvet was born in France but raised in Africa. She graduated from veterinary school in 1990 in Saskatchewan, Canada, completed an internship in 1991 in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the University of Illinois and a residency in Neurology/Neurosurgery at UC Davis in 1993. In 1997, while on staff at the University of Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, Dr. Chauvet started Veterinary Neuro Services and later moved the company to the Gulf Coast of Florida.

Dr. Chauvet has received numerous business and professional awards over the years. She is the creator of the Basic Science Course in Veterinary and Comparative Neurology/Neurosurgery now known as “brain camp”. Dr. Chauvet founded a not-for-profit organization and assisted others. Her passions are to educate and make a difference. Her interests are hyperbaric medicine, minimally invasive procedure and all neurosurgery.

She continues to lecture internationally and promote the arena of veterinary education

Since 2008, Dr. Goodfellow has worked as a Professional Services Veterinarian for Novartis and Virbac, and a Sr. Professional Services Veterinarian for Merck Animal Health where she has been a BRAVECTO® fi eld liaison, monitoring parasitology trends and working with marketing to address these trends through education and sales initiatives. Dr. Goodfellow has a special interest in parasitology and dermatology. Her favorite part of her position is meeting with her talented veterinary colleagues, learning about their practices, and presenting information that can be utilized to improve the lives of patients and clients. Dr Adolph received his D.V.M. degree in 1996 from Oklahoma State University.  After a year and a half as an associate veterinarian, Dr Adolph was a practice owner for 17 years. During his time as a practice owner, He developed a special interest in parasitology and practice management.  

In 2013, Dr. Adolph completed a Master’s degree program at Oklahoma State University, while continuing to practice full time. While enrolled in the graduate program, Dr. Adolph was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi honor society, which recognizes academic excellence in fields of higher education.   Dr. Adolph serves on the boards of The National Center for Veterinary Parasitology, The American Heartworm Society, and the American College of Veterinary Microbiologists Board of Governors. He has authored numerous, peer-reviewed scientific papers, a chapters for an upcoming text books and conducted research in canine and feline parasitic diseases. In 2015, Dr. Adolph passed the parasitology board exams and is now a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Microbiologists.

Chronic valvular disease (CVD) is the most common cause of heart disease and heart failure in the dog. This session will use a case series to highlight the recently updated management guidelines, with emphasis on when to initiate treatment in stage B, optimum therapy for stage C, and a practical approach to the coughing dog with CVD. Attendees will gain confidence in the new guidelines and learn how to incorporate them into clinical practice.

Sonya Gordon DVM, DVSc, DACVIM (Associate Professor of Cardiology Texas A&M University)

Dr. Gordon received her DVM from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada. In addition to being a Professor of cardiology, she holds the Eugene Ch’en Chair in Cardiology and is a fellow of the Michael E. DeBakey Institute and the cardiology residency program director in the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M. She is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in cardiology and has been in academic practice for more than 20 years where she sees clinical cardiology cases approximately 40% of the time. Dr. Gordon has published more than 70 original manuscripts, numerous book chapters and articles, and a textbook (The ABCDs of Small Animal Cardiology: A Practical Manual). She was also one of the lead investigators in the EPIC and PROTECT clinical trials, for which she received a 2017 CVM Outstanding Scientific Achievement Award and the 2019 Texas Veterinary Medical Association Research Award.

Speaker: Robert Swinger, DVM, DACVO (Animal Eye Guys)

Dr. Swinger will presenting on Ocular procedures and surgery in your practice. The AAVSB RACE-approved lecture will provide attendees with 2 CE Credits.

Dr. Robert Swinger completed his undergraduate work and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois in 2003.  After completing an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Veterinary Specialists of South Florida in 2004, he went on to complete both an ophthalmology internship and residency at the Animal Eye Specialty Clinic. Soon thereafter, he joined the VCA Aurora Animal Hospital before returning to Florida in 2011 to launch Animal Eye Guys. Animal Eye Guys has expanded to multiple locations across South Florida extending on the east coast from Miami to West Palm Beach and on the west coast from Cape Coral to Naples. Dr.Swinger is board certified and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. In his work environment, Dr. Swinger enjoys teaching and taking active roles in the clinic’s internship/residency programs. He is an active lecturer/wet lab instructor across the nation including the Florida Veterinary Medical Association, The Gulf Atlantic Veterinary Conference, Vet Vacation CE, University of Illinois, St. Matthew’s University, and many local events for his referring veterinary community. Outside of the veterinary arena, Dr. Swinger enjoys spending time with his family (which includes his twins, Keegan and Francesca, and a toy poodle, Sophia) and enjoys the outdoors and traveling.

Franziska R. Fitz, DVM is a veterinarian at Southeast Veterinary Neurology. She has been part of Southeast Veterinary Neurology since 2015 and has been residency trained in all aspects of neurology and neurosurgery. Dr. Fitz was born and raised in South Germany. She received the majority of her training in Brno, Czech Republic, where she earned her masters in veterinary science. She went on to complete her general practitioner certificate in small animal surgery from the European School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies in Munich and Frankfurt, Germany. She obtained her Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates, certified by the American Veterinary Medical Association, before moving to South Florida. She completed a surgical internship at Hollywood Animal Hospital, followed by a neurology internship at SEVN. She completed her three-year residency and joined the team of doctors at SEVN in July 2019.
